In our family we adopt many German / Austrian traditions, therefore every New Year's Eve we take out the ladybugs, pigs, clovers AND chimney sweepers! These are all good luck charms in my husband's home country of Austria.
To make your own 'good luck pigs' to give out to loved ones on New Year's Eve, all you need is some marzipan and food coloring.
You can find marzipan in the baking isle of most major food stores. Soften it a bit and add a tiny bit of red food coloring to make pink. I also made some tiny hearts or 'clover leaves' with green marzipan.
Toothpicks work great to add eyes and details.
These cute tokens of luck are edible, but we tend to save ours to look at in January ;)
Let me know in the comments if you try this idea out!
